Sexist my a…

We learned this week that Congresswoman and Republican Presidential Candidate Michele Bachmann has [and causes] migraines. On the grand scheme should this isn’t really a big story.

However, when you factor in reports that the migraines may/may not have been debilitating enough to force her to seek treatment at a  hospital on several occasions, it becomes somewhat of a big story, because GOD FORBID she be elected President, this could be a factor in her ability to do the job.

Fine…whatever.

Do I expect anything less from her and her camp in the way they are dealing with the story…no. I mean seriously, why would she have a press conference to say yes I am one of the many Americans who are effected by this and on a few occasions they have cause me to sit in a dark room and wait and wait for the pain to subside or seek medical treatment — thus connecting personally with those who would understand where she is coming from? Well, to be fair she did have the press conference…she read from a prepared statement. It was very robotic. But in the grand scheme of things, it is what all other Presidential candidates have had to do over the years. Which leads me to my point.

Both Bob Dole and John McCain fought off numerous health related issues regarding their ages at the time they were seeking the highest office in the land, and Senator John Kerry faced questions about his battle with prostate cancer the year leading up to being the Democratic nominee.

So, this notion that Bachmann is being singled out because she has suffered from incapacitating migraines simply because she is a woman, is really just silly. Maybe even a little stupid.
