Ten minutes into the VP debate last night, I sent a text to a friend saying, “I don’t like where this is heading.”
She responded by asking why, to which I replied, “I just don’t like how he [Tim Kaine] keeps cutting in. He seems too anxious.”
Sadly, I couldn’t have been more right.
Yes, it was annoying to listen to, and I understand the comparisons people are making to how Trump did the same thing during the first debate.
However, there is a HUGE difference. Kaine wasn’t interjecting to promote lies…he was jumping the gun to set the record straight. Again, I get it…it comes off negatively and I would have advised a much calmer approach.
The fact that Mike Pence was calm, cool and collective doesn’t mean he was better than Kaine. You can’t be better than someone when just about every word out of your mouth is a lie. You can’t be better than someone when you deny things that everyone knows to be true. You can’t be better than someone by remaining calm, laughing things off and pretending that you have all the answers.
Those are the characteristics of a psychopath.
Time after time Mr. Pence was pressed to answer questions regarding statements made by Mr. Trump not just once, but throughout the entire campaign. And each time he was pressed, he either lied straight to the camera, deflected the question or tried in a sad way to make the case that the Clinton-Kaine campaign is built around name calling.
Dude…seriously? Your guy was calling the Senator “a villain from Batman” on Twitter DURING the debate, so please…check yourself.
I have no doubt once the “scientific polling” is completed on last night’s VP debate, the general conscious will be that while Kaine won the debate on points and facts, Pence will still most likely be considered the “winner” because of his “poise.”
To that, I can think of only one thing to say….Jesus, fix it!
