No More God Damn Tax Cuts!

“I think poverty to a large extent is also a state of mind. You take somebody that has the right mindset, you can take everything from them and put them on the street, and I guarantee in a little while they’ll be right back up there. And you take somebody with the wrong mindset, you can give them everything in the world, they’ll work their way right back down to the bottom.”

– Dr. Ben Carson, Sec. Housing and Urban Development

Don’t get me wrong in theory part of what Sec. Carson is saying has some merit. But as a blanket statement, it’s simply ridiculous.
Are there people who take advantage of the welfare system, yes. But then again, the President of the United States called himself smart for taking advantage of tax loopholes. So how about we fix the tax loopholes, stop giving the top 1% tax break upon tax break, fix the welfare system so that it’s not a crutch, but a boost to help people who can get back on their feet.
How about…
  • No more tax cuts for the rich until our roadways and bridges are fixed and upgraded.
  • No more tax cuts for the rich until our schools are improved.
  • No more tax breaks for the rich until we fix the tax code.

Of course, none of these things will ever happen because all Republicans like to do is complain about the number of “welfare” programs there are that help those who need the help most. They talk a good game about putting money back into the pockets of the American people, but the reality is they’re putting money back into the pockets of those who need it the less. It’s time to take a stand and tell these people — do these things, which will create jobs and help people get off assistance — and then we can talk about giving your rich friends their precious tax cuts.

It’s time to take a stand and tell Republicans to do these things FIRST and then come back to us with your precious “job creating” tax cuts to help spur the economy.

Because until they do, I say we tell Republicans to take their tax cuts and their philosophy on the poor and shove them where the sun doesn’t shine.
